Make your way to the Belize Zoo and take a look at some of the most exotic animals in all of Central America. Home to hundreds of different species (including our national animal, the tapir), there’s plenty to see and do at this family-friendly destination. One day at the Belize Zoo will make you feel like you’re taking a trip to the Belize rainforest.
Your adventure starts just 30 miles from Belize City on the Western Highway at the Belize Zoo. Every animal is placed in habitats that imitate what they’d have if they were in their natural environment.
Walking below flying birds in enclosed canopies and watching low-lying crocodiles hang out in pools made just for them is just one of the experiences you can enjoy at the Belize Zoo. You’ll also see the magnificent Jabiru Stork, Jaguar, mountain lion, and other prominent species.
The Belize Zoo is an excellent place for kids to come and learn about the diverse wildlife of Belize and make memories with their families.
After visiting the exotic flora & fauna, you will stop in the village of Bermudian Landing to visit The Community Baboon Sanctuary.
The project’s objective was to teach farmers in that area that protecting the habitat of the Black Howler Monkey can help their community and lifestyle. You’ll be able to get close-up views of the monkeys as they scamper up in trees and across rope bridges and make a raucous noise throughout the village.
